Anybody who's a 30-something-year-old geek like me will know exactly what Dungeons & Dragons is. For those of you who actually dated and held jobs the last twenty years, D&D is a game using pen and paper where you pretend you're somebody else for a few hours with your other geeky buddies. Before the internet, D&D was our only form of escapism.
One thing that D&D had in it was an ethos system, a way to tell the philosophical bent of a character in the game. In a nutshell, a character could be lawful, or chaotic, or neutral. He could also be good, or evil, or neutral. This was a convenient way to pigeonhole characters into one of nine personality types: the tyrannical overlord of the small village is Lawful Evil. That crazy guy who will throw a rock at you one minute and tend a starving squirrel the next minute is Chaotic Neutral. And so forth.
Take the quiz below. For each question, there are four possible answers. Place a number from 1 to 4 in each response box, with 4 signifying your first choice, and 1 signifying your last choice. Make sure you put a number in every box!
Oh, and before you think I'm trying to claim this as an original work, let me say that this is a highly modified form of the questions provided here.
And now, on with the quiz!
